Retortable Tests

Retortable Tests for Retort Plastic Bags

Retort plastic bags (typically made from structures like PET/AL/NY/RCPP, PET/NY/RCPP, or PET/AL/RCPP) must undergo strict testing to ensure they can withstand high temperature, steam pressure, and long-term food storage. The following tests verify bag performance, safety, and durability.

Temperature: 115°C – 135°C (commonly 121°C or 125°C)

Duration: 20–45 minutes

Bag is placed in a retort autoclave under steam + pressure.

Checks for:

  • Lamination stability
  • No delamination
  • No leakage
  • No deformation
  • Seal integrity maintained after heating and cooling

Burst & Pressure Resistance Tests

Burst & Pressure Resistance Tests

Bag is filled and pressurized until it fails.

Simulates pressure buildup during sterilization.
